Docents and Greeters

Greeters welcome visitors to the Museum and provide them with a basic introduction to the Museum and its exhibits. They handle Museum Gift Shop sales, document the number of visitors to the Museum and gather visitor feedback. In addition to providing the services of a greeter, docents introduce visitors to the Museum with a deeper knowledge of the exhibits. They receive training when new exhibits are opened and participate in Exhibit Opening Events.

Training: All volunteers interested in becoming a greeter or a docent are provided with training. Training can be arranged at any time to fit your schedule.

Hours: 4 hours per month.

School Field Trip Docents

If you are a retired school teacher OR have experience working with children we would love to hear from you. Volunteers describe what it was like to live in the San Lorenzo Valley 100 years ago to visiting school-age children.

Training: Training is provided and can be arranged at any time to fit your schedule.

Hours: 2 hours per field trip, 1 – 2 field trips per month. Field trips are scheduled from the end of September to Thanksgiving and from January to mid-June, but not every month has a field trip scheduled.

Grant Writing

We are looking volunteers who are interested in working with our Grant Committee. We would especially welcome anyone with prior experience and particularly those familiar with applying for grants in the non-profit sector.

Hours: Flexible and some work could be done from home.
